Q: What do you do?
A: I am both an academic and an entrepreneur, with 15 years of experience from game design and development.
Q: What makes you most excited for VR as whole?
A: It’s always exciting to follow a new emerging technology take shape and especially to see how the content for it is beginning to evolve.
Q: What are your thoughts on the way the VR industry has grown in the last 12 months?
A: Well, my whole presentation will be about that, so you have to wait and attend my talk at VR Connects!
Q: What major trends do you predict for VR in 2017?
A: Again, this is my very much what my talk will be about, but as a teaser: I see the field diversifying in its applications, B2B market growing, and in my specific field of expertise, i.e. games, new ‘VR native’ genres starting to emerge.
Q: Which part of VR Connects/PGC London are you most looking forward to and why?
A: Meeting people working on exciting VR projects and getting feedback towards my own work.

About The Speaker
Aki Järvinen, Ph.D., is a game industry veteran and an academic. Since 2002, Aki’s career has included studios such as Fathammer, Digital Chocolate, Grand Cru, and Playdemic. His background is in design, but Aki has lead teams in developing state-of-the-art mobile and social games. From the beginning of 2016, he has been focusing on building Game Futures, a research and consulting initiative poised to help studios to think about the future in a structured way.
