Pitch Your Indie VR Game To Press, Publishers And Pundits!

Pitch Your Indie VR Game To Press, Publishers And Pundits!

This June, the makers of The Virtual Report will be rolling into California for VR Connects San Francisco 2017. And that means the hottest independent VR developer competition is coming too.

Taking place on 27th and 28th June within VR Connects, the VR Indie Pitch is a fantastic opportunity to get your upcoming game into the hands of some of the leading minds in the field of VR.

If you’re an independent game developer working on a mobile- or PC-based VR title, and want to be a part of the hottest upcoming virtual reality show in North America, listen up. The VR Indie Pitch launched last year at Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki, and then went from strength to strength at VR Connects London. Why mess with greatness? We've left the format unchanged so if you've joined us before you'll know what to expect.

Ready, Set, Pitch

Developers get 10 minutes and an allocated slot in order to pitch their game to a panel of judges. These include a mix of publishers, journalists, industry experts, and VR investors, so it's the perfect opportunity to get your game seen by people in the know. Our very own editor helped pick the winner in London in January, for instance.

You will present your games to industry experts.

Following a full day of pitching, the judges will debate and carefully consider their decision overnight. Then the top three will be announced live on stage on day two. What a way to close VR Connects and Pocket Gamer Connects San Francisco 2017!

Be a part of the pitch

The VR Indie Pitch is a unique chance to get your game into the hands of some of the most influential members of the VR community. It’s also a chance to get some instant feedback from these experts, something past VR Indie Pitch participants have found invaluable.

Mobile- and PC-based VR games are welcome.

Of course, it is a competition so there’s also a prize. With indie developers in mind, we've arranged for that to be a promotional package worth a massive $7000 to be shared amongst the top three. Your portion of the package can be used across Steel Media’s range of websites, including Pocket Gamer, AppSpy, and of course, right here on The Virtual Report. So when your game is ready to launch, you know there's advertising budget waiting for you.

Not sure if you qualify? Then maybe this will help:

  • You can pitch games for mobile VR, PC-based VR, and even AR titles too.
  • You can pitch your game even if you've pitched it at a previous Big Indie Pitch or VR Indie Pitch.
  • We prefer to see unreleased games, though we're happy to see games that are recently out too.
  • Your game doesn’t have to be completed, as we welcome games in development.
  • One submission only per developer/team.
  • Deadline for entries is midnight 18th June 2017 (entry details below).

Developers will be required to provide their own VR hardware to showcase their games. However, in return we'll be providing all of those shortlisted to be a part of the pitch with a complimentary expo floor table and space to showcase their game to VR Connects' audience.

Interested? Well, here's how to get involved:

First thing you’ll want to do is head over to our event page. There's more information there about the VR Indie Pitch, but most importantly you'll also be able to register your game for us to check out. We’ll be in touch closer to the event to let you know if you've been shortlisted, and if so, what you’ll need to do to prepare for the pitch itself.

If selected to take part you'll get into VR Connects and PG Connects for free

NOTE: Shortlisted entrants receive TWO FREE tickets to VR Connects San Francisco 2017 and Pocket Gamer Connects San Francisco 2017, which take place at the same time and at the same venue. Non-shortlisted entries qualify for a discounted ticket for both shows too.

Good luck to all who submit. Hope to see you at the VR Indie Pitch’s first foray into North America!
