Eonite today announced the official availability of its Eonite Vantage Head Tracker (EVHT) software. The software is built to democratise VR, AR and MR by delivering inside-out positional tracking for any tethered or untethered headset, mobile devices, robots, drones and other form factors. The software features 6-Degrees-Of-Freedom, 15 millisecond motion-to-photon latency, and low power consumption.

Other features include:

• Real-time obstacle detection to increase safety and enhance immersion
• Uses one commodity depth sensor and standard processors built into the HMD, cutting down on hardware cost and simplifying system setup
• Support for mapping and tracking through multiple rooms
• Works in a variety of indoor lighting conditions to support real-world use cases

The software currently supports PC-based HMDs, with support for mobile and other devices coming soon. Also, EVHT comes with the Eonite Reality Insight Software Development Kit and Unity plug-in, which is being offered to select strategic partners. The developer kit includes home-scale, real-time 3D scanning and reconstruction supporting persistent virtual content, occlusions and shadows.
