Independence Day Director Co-Founds VR Company

Director of Independence Day, Stargate and The Day after Tomorrow, Roland Emmerich, has co-founded a VR company, named VRenetic. The company has an emphasis on the social media applications of VR, and its first major advertised product reflects this.

VResh is a mobile app and companion pair of glasses-cum-phone-holders that ‘allows users to capture, share and stream their experiences in Virtual Reality,’ according to the product website. VRenetic has distinguished cable-free VR as a key selling-point of the product. The VResh commercial, which is directed by Roland Emmerich himself, demonstrates this distinction.

With no release date set for the product, the company website instead offers the opportunity to apply to join initial beta testing, stating, ‘Each beta tester will receive all necessary hardware, exclusive access to our application, and an invitation to our launch event in Los Angeles.’
