Oculus is now selling a Rift and Touch bundle for $399 as part of its Summer Of Rift sale. This is a limited time offer, starting today and for the next six weeks, after which the price will revert to $598 – a price point that is already $200 cheaper than the original hardware cost, thanks to a drop in March.
This is a global deal, with shipping to European countries at £399 or €449 and Amazon is matching these prices. Oculus’ VP of Content, Jason Rubin told Upload VR, “$799 was too much and $598 is reasonable for hardware, but it’s just still expensive. But $399 we know is a price that moves VR hardware and it’s a price at which consoles have moved. It seems to be a magical price point and it seemed like the right price for something like this.”
