Peter Pashley, Technical Director of Monument Valley developer Ustwo Games, has described mobile VR as "the broad future of VR," comparing favourably to its pricier competitors.
In an interview with VRFocus, Pashley - whose studio Ustwo is currently at work on Land's End for Samsung's Gear VR - said that these low-priced, mobile-powered headsets "will be the way VR comes into people’s homes."
"There’s a lot of excitement about the heights that VR can go to, the height of fidelity, the height of interaction and tracking and all that," he went on.
"But I think, in terms of the actual mass market and the future of the medium, it will be through mobile VR because people have already got these actually fairly high-powered, complete devices in their pockets."
"I think it’s a no brainer that that would be how most people would experience most of their VR."
Ustwo Games is putting its money where its mouth is, too, with Land's End coming exclusively to Samsung Gear VR.
