Survios, the VR development studio behind Raw Data, announced the closing of its $50 million funding round, led by MGM. Series A raised $4.2 million for the company in 2014, whilst the details around Series B in 2015 were never disclosed until today’s announcement, which concerns the $50 million joint funding of Series B and Series C, putting the grand total at $54 million. These impressive numbers make Survios the top funded VR development studio so far.
James Iliff, Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Survios, said, “Now that the industry is beginning to move past early adoption into more mainstream awareness, we consider ourselves very lucky and blessed to be able to develop and deliver the best VR content we can muster.” Luck aside, Survios have been on top of the game; the company’s first title, Raw Data, was first VR game to reach $1 million sales revenue in a month. The company’s mission to complete Raw Data remains the same, and the funding will be used in delivering more content for the action-packed wave shooter with a few, “Unannounced surprises in store for you along the way.”
