Standalone Headsets To Drive VR Adoption

According to an industry report by Greenlight Insights, 35% of industry professionals believe standalone headsets will be the dominant consumption vehicle for VR, AR and MR.

Of 1,000 people surveyed, 70.2% believe that Smartphone-based VR headsets will drive most of the VR consumption in the next 12 months, but standalone VR headsets will grow market share by 2021.

Google announced a standalone VR headset at last week’s I/O 17 event. Working in partnership with HTC, the all-in-one VR HMD will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 mobile processor and is set to be released by the end of 2017.
