Pokémon GO forays into the metaverse with in-game Ed Sheeran concert

Pokémon GO has announced details on its upcoming Ed Sheeran collaboration.

From Monday, November 22nd to Tuesday, November 30th, a special event performance will be available to watch in the News section within Pokémon GO.

Songs featured will come from Sheeran’s new album, including ‘Perfect’ and ‘Bad Habits’.

During this same period, an event featuring all water-type Pokémon starters currently in GO will be occurring. From Squirtle to Oshawott, five Pokémon Generations’ worth of water starters will sometimes appear in their shiny colourations.

Whilst Froakie is noted to be rarer to find and not as a shiny, there will be a special shiny Squirtle wearing sunglasses available during the event.

On its site, Pokémon GO commented, “Ed always chooses the Water-type Pokémon as his first partner when he starts a Pokémon RPG. In celebration of this collaboration, look forward to an event featuring all of the Water-type first-partner Pokémon currently available in Pokémon GO!”

There will also be new avatar items, stickers and bundles as part of the event, and redeeming the code VVM87WGMMUZHTB8X will net players clothing based on Sheeran’s new album.
