Game Awards 2016 Lived Streamed In VR

The Game Awards 2016, set to take place on 1st December at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, will be the first award show to be live streamed in VR, due to a partnership with NextVR.

VR cameras will be placed throughout the theatre, meaning Gear VR users on the NextVR app can watch from a multitude of viewpoints. On top of this, viewers can watch from the perspective of a custom-built robot that will be up close and personal with the award ceremony and live music performances.

The event will be live-streamed from PlayStation Network, Steam, Twitch, Xbox Live and YouTube and, for the first time, Facebook Live. Further, the event will be the first awards show to air on Twitter Live, as well as a localised version that will broadcast in China for the first time.

Geoff Keighley, Creator/Producer of The Game Awards said, “Video Games have the power to unite communities from all over the world, and this year we will share the power of gaming with more people than ever before.”
