Tokyo start-up, Vaqso, has raised $600,000 this week in a seed round from Japanese venture capital firm Weru Investment, according to Business Insider. The funding is to continue developing the company’s ‘scent enabling device’ that’s designed to add smells to existing VR headsets including Rift, Vive and PS VR. The hardware houses up to three different odours, with intensity varied by a fan.
Vaqso claims that using its VR library requires no difficult coding to integrate functions such as connections, battery remaining, and scent blower control. It’s been developed to work with Unity, but work is underway on bringing the technology to other game engines.
