All our activities support, educate and connect the global games industry. They bring professionals working in games together in important cultural centres – from London to Seattle, Helsinki, Hong Kong and beyond – to do business and share knowledge. In the last year, they have taken place largely online, using tools like Zoom, but they retain their core character of talks and panels and networking.
More than 30,000 industry professionals have attended the Pocket Gamer Connects international conference series since 2014. We also produce surveys and reports, host the Top 50 Mobile Game Makers, and run the Big Indie Pitch competitions and more. The marketing team's job is to promote and evangelise all these activities and conferences.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a budding marketer with an interest in working in the games industry, to join the marketing team at Steel Media.
The marketing team is responsible for the planning and delivery of a range of multi-channel marketing campaigns for events and activities across various Steel Media brands including PocketGamer.biz, PocketGamer.com and the leading B2B mobile games industry conference series, Pocket Gamer Connects.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Events Marketing Assistant will support the smooth day-to-day delivery of marketing activities and assist in the implementation of key initiatives that drive the growth of our events.
Notes and considerations:
This is a remote, work from home position although the successful candidate must be available during key UK work hours.
We’d look to bring somebody on board in a freelance capacity, but a permanent staff position could be considered for the right candidate.
Ideally this role will be full-time (40 hours per week) but we are open to part-time or flexible working options.
It’s an entry level position. Steel Media is a small company where experience is gained quickly and everybody has a chance to influence our projects.
The teams work on a number of projects simultaneously; decisions are made quickly, and no two days are the same.
You’ll need to be good at working independently when needed, and respond to the wider needs of the senior managers as they arise.
You need to manage multiple communications channels daily, via email, Skype, Zoom and Google Docs and not be fazed by this.
Due to working remotely, you will need to be comfortable being out of an office setting (it doesn't suit everyone) and be able to communicate and report to your team manager via Skype and other online systems regularly.
