The two OLED displays are 5.7” Quad HD 2560 x 1440 resolution, almost double that of a HDTV and offers a 40% higher pixel density than the iPhone X’s Super Retina 5.8” OLED with 2436 x 1125.
Working with the official support of NVIDIA VRWorks, the headset benefits from NVIDIA’s performance-boosting framework which offers functions such as Direct Mode, Single Pass Stereo and Lens Matched Shading.
The 5K Plus model is built on the original VRHero 5K platform, which is used by automotive designers and companies like BMW, Audi and Volkswagen. VRgineers take advantage of this platform to accelerate development of new models, such as the VRHero 5K Plus.
Marek Polcak, CEO and co-founder at VRgineers, said, “The new fast, high-resolution, high-density OLED displays used in VRHero 5K Plus deliver a much smoother, more dynamic VR experience than ever before while not compromising on the crystal-clear image VRHero 5K is known for… The display improvements include latency reduction, low persistence, faster color switching, and better blacks.”
The VRHero 5K Plus is available for pre-order, shipping in the first quarter of 2018 for new orders.
