Camera manufacturer, Olympus, relaunches its EyeTrek AR brand with the INSIGHT El-10 smartglass technology. The patented optical system enables users to see its display without blocking eyesight and easily access information whenever needed without interfering with their activities.
Designed to attach to existing eyewear such as safety glasses, the EI-10 incorporates both wireless LAN and Bluetooth technology for wireless connection to a network or to peripheral devices, with hot swap capabilities for extended use of the 66g hardware.
Navigation takes advantage of the embedded sensors - 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyro, 3-axis magnetic field - for the user interface and applications, which run on Android OS and firms can deploy bespoke apps using Olympus development tools.
Photo and video capture is via a camera resolution of 1,992×1,216 effective pixels, with video playback on the nHD resolution 640x400 OLED screen with a 13 degree diagonal field of view.
Partners including Rochester Optical who helped develop prescription eyeglass frames with an integrated EI-10 mounting mechanism and Japan’s WESTUNITIS providing business solution software.
The EyeTrek INSIGHT EI-10 will be available for $1,499.99 this month.
