The VR Indie Pitch returns as a part of XR Connects Helsinki 2017

The VR Indie Pitch returns as a part of XR Connects Helsinki 2017

It's been nearly one year since Nemesis Perspective won the first ever VR Indie Pitch at last year's Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki 2016. Well now where back, only this time we're bring the VR Indie Pitch to XR Connects, our VR/AR/MR-dedicated sister show which takes place (at the same time as PG Connects Helsinki 2017) on September 19th and 20th.

Since we launched the VR Indie Pitch one year ago we've already taken it on the road to the likes of San Francisco and London. As with our other pitch events, the VR Indie Pitch offers developers working in VR, AR and MR the unique chance to showcase their game to a selection of industry expert judges which include the likes of leading journalists, publishers, investors, and renowned developers.

Those who are shortlisted to pitch will also get FREE TICKETS for both days of XR Connects Helsinki 2017, access to our Pitch & Match meeting system too, and even FREE EXPO SPACE for both days of the show, enabling you to showcase your game to all of our attendees from XR Connects, PG Connects and now PC Connects too.

Virtual speed dating

The VR Indie Pitch process couldn’t be simpler. Developers are given a free expo table for the two days of XR Connects Helsinki 2017. On day one developers will be able to showcase their game to all of the attendees.

Then in the morning of day two, judges will be brought to each developer's expo table in turn. You'll then get a few minutes to pitch their game to each expert. Once the time is up, a horn will sound and it’s time for the next judge to come along. Once all of the games have been seen, our expert panel will step away to discuss and settle on the top three.

It's a unique chance to place your game into the hands of some of the most influential minds in the industry, and receive immediate feedback on your game over the course of the meeting.

Sociable Soccer was among the games seen at the VR Indie Pitch in Helsinki last year.

Feedback, prizes and coverage

Following the pitch we’ll also collect up all of the feedback and email this over to you so you have a written record of what the judges liked about the game, alongside some tips and advice on how they think you could grow the game as you move forward with development.

We’ll also be covering every game in our round-up piece right here on The Virtual Report, alongside publishing interviews with the top placing projects.

Of course, there'll also be prizes for the top three teams. Usually this takes the form of promotional space which the lucky developers will be able to use across our portfolio of websites in order to market and promote their game.

Not developing for XR Platforms?

Well, we’ve still got you covered. As this year we’ve obviously brought back our industry leading mobile focused Very Big Indie Pitch, which will of course take place this year as a part of our sister show Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki 2017.

We’ll also be bringing our brand new PC Indie Pitch along with us. Having successfully launched our PC focused indie developer competition at Gamescom, we thought what better place to bring it next than PC Connects Helsinki 2017, our brand new PC focused conference which takes place as a part of Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki 2017.

Just like The Very Indie Pitch and the VR Indie Pitch, this competition puts the spotlight squarely on indie developers working in the PC space, just like Happy Volcano who won the first ever PC Indie Pitch with their title The Almost Gone.

All in all, it largely works the same as our leading mobile pitches, albeit with a PC focus. To find out more about our Helsinki PC Indie Pitch, including how to enter, then simply head on over to our other sister site PC Games Insider.
