The U.S. Department of Education has announced the EdSim Challenge. With a total prize pool of $680,000, the Challenge is looking for new educational VR/AR simulations that could strengthen academic, technical and employability skills.

Five finalists will be selected after all the submissions are judged on learning outcomes, engagement, commitment, implementation and scalability. Each finalist will receive a $50,000 cash prize, with one winner then taking $430,000.

The purpose of the challenge is to stimulate the marketplace for computer-generated VR and AR educational experiences that combine future technologies with skill-building content and assessment.
