Just when you thought that gaming had shifted to the sofa forever, it seems that arcades could make a comeback in 2016, with the news that Gateshead is the unlikely location for the UK’s first ‘dedicated virtual reality experience lounge’ this Autumn.
The appropriately named Virtual Arcade will be located near Sage Gateshead and promises, “Virtual Reality games and experiences for the North East of England”, with ‘room sized’ booths for both individuals and groups. That sounds like a bit of Rift action to us!
With hardware costs for the leading formats prohibitive to many consumers, this is a great chance for them to experience top tier Virtual Reality until prices fall.
